Welcome to the Salida Community Center website!

Our mission: The Salida Community Center builds bridges between individuals and groups by providing a vital and central meeting place to learn, exercise mind and body, and enjoy fellowship.

The Community Center is hosting a Harvest Moon Formal on Saturday, October 9 2010 from 7-11pm. The event is planned as our signature fundraiser and is opened to the community. The evening will be filled with live music, food, a silent auction and fun. It will also give the public an opportunity to see the recent physical changes and provide an introduction to the future of the center as a multi-generational facility. Your entry ticket will give you a chance to win a wonderful door prize. Please come!

Brown Bag Lunch Event

Salida Community Center’s Free High Noon Speaker Series is a "Brown Bag Lunch" event every month’s second Wednesday at noon. Attendees will "bring their own" - if they wish..

Five Wishes lets your family and doctors know:

  • · Who you want to make health care decisions for you when you can't make them.
  • · The kind of medical treatment you want or don't want.
  • · How comfortable you want to be.
  • · How you want people to treat you.
  • · What you want your loved ones to know.
  • Five Wishes is changing the way America talks about and plans for care at the end of life. More than 14 million copies of Five Wishes are in circulation across the nation, distributed by more than 15,000 organizations. Five Wishes meets the legal requirements in 42 states and is useful in all 50.
  • Five Wishes has become America’s most popular living will because it is written in everyday language and helps start and structure important conversations about care in times of serious illness.

Five Wishes was introduced in 1997 and originally distributed with support from a grant by The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the nation's largest philanthropy devoted exclusively to health and health care. With assistance from the United Health Foundation, Five Wishes is now available in 23 languages.
